BBC News: Meta launches interactive Holocaust education tool using AI
September 20, 2023
Tell Me, Inge is an immersive, AI-powered virtual reality experience that brings the story of Holocaust survivor Inge Auerbacher to life. Developed by StoryFile in collaboration with Meta, UNESCO, the World Jewish Congress, and the Claims Conference, this groundbreaking project enables users to engage in lifelike conversations with Auerbacher, who survived the Theresienstadt Ghetto as a child. By combining conversational video AI technology with hand-drawn 3D animations, the experience allows participants to ask questions and receive authentic responses, providing a deeply personal connection to history.
Reporter Nick Kwek from BBC Clock, was the first journalist in the world outside Germany to try out Meta's new XR project ahead of launch.
Accessible in English and German via VR headsets, desktops, and mobile devices, Tell Me, Inge offers an innovative approach to Holocaust education and remembrance. This initiative ensures that the voices of survivors like Auerbacher continue to educate and inspire future generations.
